Zak Douglas is making waves in the UK television industry with his lead roles in two major productions: Channel 5’s The Good Ship Murder and ITV’s GWED and a featured part in Lockerbie with Colin Firth. Zak, a talented youth theatre leader for Central Youth Theatre in Wolverhampton, is set to attend the prestigious BAFTA awards after GWED has been nominated for Best Scripted Comedy.
Zak, who has been directing at Central Youth Theatre for several years, is known for his dedication to nurturing young talent and fostering a love for the arts within his community. His work with young performers in Wolverhampton is just one part of his blooming career, which now includes key roles in both The Good Ship Murder, a thrilling mystery drama on Channel 5, and the comedy GWED on ITV.
GWED, a sharp and witty comedy series, has gained significant attention for its unique storytelling and memorable characters, earning the prestigious BAFTA nomination.
“I’m beyond thrilled to be attending the BAFTAs this year, especially with GWED nominated for Best Scripted Comedy,” Zak says. “Being a part of such a phenomenal project and team is an incredible honor—truly a dream come true. I’m also deeply proud of my work with Central Youth Theatre. For me, it’s all about inspiring and uplifting the next generation, providing young people with a safe space to build confidence, express themselves, and find their voice, I hope this serves as a reminder that there’s a place for all of us.” Zak’s impressive journey from a youth theatre leader in Wolverhampton to a rising star in British television is one to watch. His achievements demonstrate not only his exceptional talent but also his commitment to the arts and to fostering future generations of creatives.
The BAFTA Awards ceremony will take place on Sunday 11th May 2025. Whether it’s on-screen or in his role as a mentor, Zak continues to make an impact on the world of television and youth theatre.
