The building is historic, colourful, and has a creative and welcoming aesthetic that will instantly appeal to children. The central location is ideal, with plenty of free parking nearby, making it easy to get to with young children in tow. The theatre itself is an intimate space meaning your child won’t be too overwhelmed but also offers a chance to get right in with all the action on stage. Because we are a small venue, we also have a small but warm and friendly staff team, meaning we take extra care to ensure your experience is extra special and unique.

The Newhampton Arts Centre is also a registered charity, and ticket sales go towards funding the running costs of the venue. This enables the Newhampton Arts Centre to keep ticket prices low, making them particularly affordable for families. The wide range of shows and workshops on offer, along with the numerous events taking place throughout the year, gives children plenty of options to choose from. There are multiple shows and workshops running, meaning you can easily take part in activities with your child on different days, or even on the same day.

The Newhampton Arts Centre is home to a wide range of shows and workshops that are sure to appeal to a variety of different children. The littlest theatre-goers will love the colourful, musical theatre show Hey Diddle Diddle. Coming This April, some of the most famous faces from your favourite rhymes are coming together to present a spectacular nursery rhyme cabaret.

More confident children can join in the fun with Central Youth Theatre’s shows such as Alice’s Adventure’s in Wonderland taking place in the summer.  Or get creative with a Children’s Art Workshops taking place in school holidays throughout the year. All of these activities are helping to develop creativity, confidence, and social skills.

Helping children express themselves

Fancy stepping into the spotlight? You and your friends can star in a live shows, or take part in a Musical Theatre show with our site residents central youth Theatre and Stagecoach. Central Youth Theatre has spent 35 years nurturing the creative talents of future generations of performers and creative professionals. The youth theatre was founded by Jane Ward MBE and for the last 38 years, thousands of young people have passed through, many of whom have gone on to study drama and are now working professionally in theatre, film and television.

On Fridays and Saturdays you can find Stagecoach in the building. With over 700 theatre schools and more than 40,000 students worldwide, Stagecoach is the UK’s largest network of part time performing arts schools for children. Since their  inception in 1988, their drama, dance and singing classes have helped to build the confidence of many thousands of children, as well as providing a springboard for some of the country’s leading young performers.

Looking to develop your child’s dance and movement  skills? The Newhampton Arts Centre also offers regular Baby and Toddler dance with Svenja’s Diddi Dance. At Diddi Dance they  encourage endless enthusiasm and energy in an action packed, full of fun 45-minute dance class specially for toddlers when they are steady on their feet, The classes were devised and started by Anne-Marie Martin, a professional dancer with over 20 years teaching experience. After running for more than 10 years in London, they now have 40 locations all across the UK. This is a great way to introduce your child to the world of performing arts from an early age.
