A sneak peek into a summer of laughter, music, and magic at NAC
As the days grow longer and the air buzzes with the promise of summer, Newhampton Arts Centre is gearing up for a season filled with laughter, music, and unforgettable performances. From comedy nights that promise belly laughs to soulful folk sessions, jazz vibes, and live music gigs that rock, there’s something for everyone in our vibrant sneak peak into summer!
Comedy Nights to Keep You Laughing
Our comedy series continues to bring smiles and laughter to audiences with a stellar lineup of comedians. May’s comedy night details here is just a taste of what’s to come, featuring acts that blend humour, wit, and storytelling in a way that only live comedy can. Prepare to laugh out loud with friends and family as we host some of the best talents on the comedy circuit. The line up features Paul Foot, Nick Helm & Jessica Fostekew all heading to Wolverhampton this May.
Folk at the NAC: A Musical Journey
The Folk at the NAC series remains a cornerstone of our seasonal programming, and this summer at NAC we will be offering evenings where storytelling and music intertwine. These gigs showcase the rich traditions of folk music, from contemporary to classic sounds, providing a cozy atmosphere. Join us for Hannah Sanders & Ben Savage on 4th May and on the 1st June we welcome Wakefire: A Midsummer Celebration when Lady Maisery and Jimmy Aldridge & Sid Goldsmith preview their new show; an essential incantation to the summertime and all that it holds.
Jazz at NAC: Evolving Rhythms
Our jazz programme continues to evolve, featuring more gigs, café spotlight sessions, and a special summer performance by Ivo Neame’s Dodeka. The new 2024 afternoon café sessions have been a great success so far and in April we get to see Rebecca Wing. Rebecca is a saxophonist, vocalist, and composer from the capital, currently in her fourth year studying jazz at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. The intimate settings and stellar line-ups make our jazz nights a must-attend for fans and you definitely don’t want to miss ‘astonishing new talent’ Emma Rawicz. Emma is a multi-award winning young saxophonist and composer, making waves on the UK music scene and beyond!
For the Little Ones: Club Origami
This summer at NAC, we’re excited to present Club Origami, a show that combines the magic of paper folding with storytelling and dance. Designed for children and their families, this interactive performance invites the audience to explore creativity and imagination in new and exciting ways. It’s a perfect outing for the little ones, promising fun, engagement, and a dash of magic.

Live music fans are in for a treat this summer at NAC, with a line up that includes performances from indie legends and local favourites. The Wedding Present will be performing their hits from “Watusi,” alongside gigs from The Kitchen Collective and The Daisychain in a benefit for Compton Care. Additionally, the Jack Fletcher Band returns for a summer hometown gig, ensuring that rock and indie fans have plenty to look forward to. Community will be returning and of course, the annual CAMRA beer & cider festivalwill ensure there are plenty of summer sips ahead!
