Ahead of the theatre performance coming to NAC on 1st November, come and meet the cast and crew behind those who are trying to save the attraction and put the village back on the tourist map!
Cast
Duane trained at Arts Educational School and since graduating has worked across stage and screen. He is delighted to be working with New Perspectives for the first time. Abigail Pidgeon is an actor, singer and teacher based in Nottingham; she graduated from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in September 2018 with an MA in Acting. Abigail was a New Associate in 2022-23 with New Perspectives; the training and knowledge she received was invaluable and she hopes to have made creative friendships that will continue to support, challenge and inspire her. In 2022, she played Ebenezer Scrooge in Front Door Theatre’s production of A Christmas Carol and this Spring she appeared in Copper Entertainment The Bunny Who Saved Easter as Mrs Higgins. Abigail is incredibly proud of her work with Sirloin Films; she recently performed alongside Vicky McClure in their short film Good Grief (Semi Finalist Flickers Rhode Island International Film Festival 2022). Currently, Abigail is playing the role of Frankie in the R&D of Critical Care written by Stacey Moon-Tracy.
Lee grew up in Nottinghamshire before training at The Oxford School of Drama where he was a winner of the Laurence Olivier Bursary Award whilst training. In 2018 he won best debut performance at the BBC Audio Awards for his performance as Smith in The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner. He has worked at the National Theatre, Sheffield Crucible, Nottingham Playhouse, Other recent credits include: Paddington Lo-Commotion (Histrionic) Blood Red Lines (Derry Playhouse/Art 27 Scotland) The Revival of Huntly Carter (Menagerie) Booming Voices (Eastern Angles) Hansel (Salisbury Playhouse dir. Jo Newman); A Kestrel for a Knave (BBC Radio 4 dir. Fiona McAlpine); My Brilliant Friend (adpt. Timberlake Wentenbaker dir. Celia de Wolff for BBC Radio 4). He was part of national tours of Rory Mullarkeys Each Slow Dusk (Pentabus dir. Eliazabeth Freestone) and Gary Owens Free Folk (dir. Kirstie Davis). Lee is thrilled to be working back home with New Perspectives on Model Village.
Creative Team
Writer – Anita Sullivan
Anita Sullivan is an award-winning writer of radio and theatre plays. All her 60+ scripts have been staged or broadcast. She is also a digital storyteller, creating interactive narratives for video and VR. Earlier this year End of Transmission won a BBC Audio Drama Award, the Tinniswood Award and was a finalist for the Writers’ Guild Award. Designer – Gemma Caseley-Kirk
Gemma Caseley-Kirk works as a freelance designer for live performance & actor based in the east midlands. She studied design at Nottingham Trent University, graduating with an exceptional 1st & won the ‘Nottingham Playhouse Prize’ 2020. She also trained at the BAFTA award winning Television Workshop. She is a co-director in the theatre company ‘Major Labia’ and designs, writes and performs for the company. Depending on what project she is working on, she is influenced by each text narrative, event or concept which will inspire colour, shape & form of each set, costume or artwork created.
Lighting Designer – Alexandra Stafford
Sound Designer – Adam P McCready
Adam is a sound designer, composer, producer, sound recordist, performer of Edgelands-Electronica and mentor.
He has created sound designs and music scores for theatre, dance productions, radio and audio dramas, audiobooks, podcast series, and film. He has also devised several multi-speaker, interactive sound installations for galleries and museums.
His work for theatre focusses on creating soundscapes that combine ambiences with music and digitally manipulated sound recordings to create complex, evolving audio environments, developing sonic scenography for live or recorded dramatic narratives. Edgeland Electronica is Adam’s exploration of liminal and psychogeographical environments in audio form.
Adam is a trustee of Can’t Sit Still Theatre and an associate artist with 1623 Theatre and Little Pixie Productions.
