February at Newhampton Arts Centre

This February, the Arts Centre presents a diverse programme of events spanning theatre, family fun, live music, jazz, folk, and even a fun dive into economics. With something for everyone, the month is packed with engaging performances, thought-provoking discussions, and high-energy live shows.

Spoken Word and Theatre

The month kicks off with It’s The Economy, Stupid! on 1 February, an insightful and entertaining exploration of how the economy shapes elections and everyday life. Joe Sellman-Leava and Dylan Howells unpack the forces at play in this engaging performance.

On 2 February, See You At The Crossroads explores the deep connections between hip hop and poetry. Through spoken word and performance, the event highlights the storytelling traditions that have shaped the genre.

Live Music Highlights

Music lovers are in for a treat with a range of performances celebrating different genres and eras.

On 7 February, Cilla, Dusty & Lulu – SHOUT OUT to the 60s brings the iconic sounds of the decade to the stage, paying tribute to some of its most beloved artists.

For jazz enthusiasts, Christine Tobin with Phil Robson & Dave Whitford performs on 13 February. Known for her rich, distinctive sound, Tobin is one of the most unique vocalists in contemporary jazz.

On 21 February, Classic Rock American Highway Show offers an evening of rock nostalgia, featuring hits from legendary American bands of the 70s and 80s, including The Eagles and The Doobie Brothers.

For folk music fans, Hannah Read, Vera Van Heeringen & Michael Starkey take to the stage on 22 February. This trio of accomplished musicians blends Appalachian old-time songs with traditional folk influences.

On 14 February, Live & Picking – Valentine’s Special offers an energetic showcase of emerging talent, featuring some of the region’s top young bands.

A major highlight of the month is Dreadzone on 15 February. With the release of their latest album Nine, the renowned dub-electronica band embarks on a UK tour, returning to Wolverhampton for one night only.

Family-Friendly Theatre

For younger audiences and families, The Tale of Nobody Nose on 19 February presents an imaginative, wordless storytelling experience. Created by Goofus Theatre CIC in association with Theatre Porto, the performance combines skilful physical theatre with a captivating narrative.

Jazz at NAC

Rounding off the month, Christian KC Quartet – Jazz at NAC Café Spotlight takes place on 23 February. Featuring rising jazz trumpet player Christian Kiely-Charalambous, the event promises an afternoon of fresh, dynamic jazz in our cafe.
