As a duo Paul Downes and Phil Beer gained a strong reputation on the UK folk scene especially in the Midlands and their native Devon. They found further fame as members of Bill Zorn’s Arizona Smoke Review. Eventually their musical paths took different directions with Paul concentrating on his solo work and collaborations with the Joyce Gang and Mick Ryan. Phil started performing with Steve Knightley and together they formed Show of Hands.
Last summer Paul and Phil were invited to perform together again at the 70th anniversary of the prestigious Sidmouth Folk Festival. That concert was truly unforgettable, and it sparked a wave of requests for the group to perform elsewhere—all of which were politely declined.
However, due to their special connection with Newhampton Arts Centre, they have agreed to this exclusive, one-off performance. This is a rare opportunity, unlikely to be repeated anytime soon, so don’t miss your chance to be part of this extraordinary event. Secure your tickets and show your support!
