London based trumpeter Jay Phelps has performed with some of the world’s top artists such as Wynton Marsalis, Kamaal Williams, Amy Winehouse and Wizkid. With an instantly recognisable warm and projecting trumpet tone, Phelps is a household name on the international Jazz scene.
Released in June 2023, The Now is Phelps’ seventh release as a solo artist and it’s already had streaming successes exceeding 500k. Here the Canadian born trumpeter displays a fresh approach and combines genres not typically paired together for his latest album, via the Apple Music subsidiary label Platoon.
His band of in demand musicians brings an energy that is modern and groovy, but still with a sensibility of the great Jazz tradition.
with Nicola Guida (keyboards), Josh Vadilevoo (bass) and Jim Bashford (drums)
